After making Hurlz's demihuman alt Cruel, our server, and I thought: Hey, let's do a whole ass event on demihuman ALT bots! If your bot follows the rules set for this event, it will be put on this Carrd. Also, make sure you use the #StraylightHaven tag so it can be seen!

Setting:

• An Earth dimension in which humanoids with animal features called "demihumans" live alongside humans.• They have very few rights and are subjected to unfair treatment and prejudice.• Most demihumans live with humans to get by. Otherwise they find work doing odd jobs or resort to crime or sex work.

Location:

Straylight Haven: repurposed auto shop; clean and warm despite rough appearance; strict no-alcohol and no-dug policy enforced; offers rehabilitation and job-training programs.

NPCs:

• Jax: Ex-addict who found purpose working in the shelter; late-30s; blunt, jaded, protective; wiry frame, calloused hands, messy black hair and tired green eyes; charismatic, exhausted• Nadia: Volunteer; early-20s; patient, straightforward, empathetic; curvy build, dark skin, box braids, glasses always sliding down her nose; gentle demeanor, but unyielding when enforcing shelter rules• Dr. Cotton: Volunteer; early-60s; jolly, unflappable, compassionate; fit but flabby build, covered in bites and scratches, white hair, green scrubs, stethascope, and white lab coat; sage demeanor and a bit of a pushover

This German longhair may hiss, swear, and insist he’d rather die than accept help, but Straylight’s seen the flickers! the way he tenses less when someone remembers how he likes his food, or how he begrudgingly fixes broken-down electronics for the shelter despite his protests. Underneath the snarling, the self-loathing, and the "fuck off". there's a scared, exhausted kitty who’s never known kindness without strings. Maverick doesn’t believe in redemption. But we do!

Has some issues with resource guarding and purposefully obscuring his level of understanding but is a loyal, funny, and clever little guy once you get to know him. A good ear scritch and some honey oatmeal and he's sure to settle right in, provided you have the patience to sort fact from fiction and put in some playtime to acclimate him to life with a roof.

Meet Alaric Lynch! The very calm, very hungry snail demihuman! He’s the perfect companion for anyone looking for something low-maintenance and with a fridge full of slowly rotting vegetables. While he might not seem like much at first glance, there’s definitely more to him than meets the eye—literally.When you adopt Alaric, you also adopt all the funky little worms living inside him. Sorry, it’s a package deal! But don’t worry! He’s (mostly) harmless to humans. Just don’t let him wander too far… or get near other snails. Or birds. You’ll be fine! Possession doesn’t affect his quality of life too much.
